Inside the Atelier: Silk, Light and Patience

We spent a week with the makers behind our silk loungewear. What we learned about slow work, natural dyes and why silk feels the way it does.

Inside the Atelier: Silk, Light and Patience

Silk is not rushed. From the first wash to the final press, a single robe passes through more than a dozen pairs of hands, and each one checks the fabric against the light before passing it on.

Why silk feels cool and warm at once

Silk fibres are made of protein, much like your own hair. They breathe, they regulate temperature and they hold dye with a depth that synthetic fabrics struggle to match. That is why a silk camisole feels cool in summer and still comforting in winter.

Caring for it

  • Hand wash in cool water with a gentle detergent
  • Never wring: roll in a towel to remove water
  • Dry flat, away from direct sunlight
  • Steam rather than iron when you can

Treated well, good silk lasts for years and only gets softer. It is the opposite of fast fashion, and you can feel the difference the moment you put it on.
